Real Madrid andMario Hezonja have come to a final agreement. The intense rumor that had developed in the previous period about the EuroLeague finalists targeting the Croatian forward is close to being officialized.

Hezonja may have refuted any negotiations with the Spanish team as he's still playing with his current team, UNICS Kazan, but -according to gazzetta.gr- his deal with Madrid is done.

Per the report, the two sides have already put their signature on the contract, which is valid for two years until 2024.

Hezonja had become a priority for Real Madrid since last year when the two sides established contacts, which were not concluded.

Hezonja arrived at FC Barcelona at the age of just 17 and became one of their stars from the 2012 season. In 2015 he decided to move overseas after being selected with the number 5 pick in the NBA Draft and went through the Orlando Magic, the New York Knicks, and the Portland Trail Blazers.

In 2021 he made his return to Europe, signing with his favorite team, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens.

This season, the 27-year-old Croatian averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 14.2 PIR over 25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games for UNICS Kazan.

On March 22, Russian clubs were officially excluded from the 2021-22 EuroLeague season due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Real Madrid are expected to undergo an extensive restructuring at the end of this season. The arrival of Sergio Rodríguez is also almost certain, and the team is working on other cases, such as Pierria Henry or Lorenzo Brown, in case the former UNICS Kazan guard ends up getting the Spanish passport.
