Report: Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns to return Wednesday vs. Hawks

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-AnthonyTowns is moving closer to a return to the court in his recoveryfrom a severely strained right calf muscle. (Editor's Note:Multiple reports have indiciated that he plans to return Wednesdaynight vs. the Atlanta Hawks.)

ESPN Sources: After missing 51 games with acalf injury, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns plansto make his return vs. the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Towns has beenout since Nov. 28, and comes back with Minnesota ninth in theWestern Conference playoff race.

The Timberwolves listed Towns as questionable to play Wednesdayagainst Atlanta on their injury report Tuesday, the first timesince his injury he hasn’t been declared out the day before thegame. Towns has missed 52 games since he was hurt Nov. 28 atWashington.

The three-time All-Star posted a picture to his Twitter accountlast week of a caged lion with the caption, “Me waiting to getcleared to play.”

The Timberwolves have been without their other star, AnthonyEdwards, for the last two games with a sprained right ankle. He’salso listed as questionable for Wednesday.
