Devonte Green was the winners' leading scorer with 19 points, but Ousman Krubally did literally everything for Larissa - 16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, including the three-point shot that secured the hosts' win. On the other hand, Daryl Macon led PAO in scoring with 27 points, Ioannis Papapetrou contributed with another 19, but Nemanja Nedovic, Peyton Siva and Lefteris Bochoridis combined for 7 points on 2/12 from the field and 1/4 free-throws.
Larissa started the contest in impressive fashion. The hosts were leading 43-17 after 13 minutes. The team coached by Fotis Takianos went 9/16 from distance, as Devonte Green had scored 13 points (4/5 three-point shots), spearheading an eight-man rotation.
Panathinaikos responded with a partial score of 7-21 to close the first half being 12 points down (38-50). In the regular season game, the Greens had to bounce back from a 19-point deficit (37-56), which they did, largely thanks to Nemanja Nedovic's 38-point performance. However, this time around, the Serbian guard was held down to only one point in his first seven minutes of action.
Papapetrou scored again to cut down the deficit to single-digits (41-50), but Larissa responded instantly with Moody and Maric. The reigning Greek champs saw Macon score nine points in the third quarter which ended at 62-57.
Nedovic returned, but wasn't able to help his team, despite the fact that Larissa wasted several opportunities to get a bigger lead. Papapetrou hit a big three to make it a two-point game (75-73) with two and a half minutes left. Papagiannis missed a couple of free-throws and Ousman Krubally beat Kaselakis one-on-one, making the game-sealing dagger (80-73).
Macon and Nedovic air-balled their long-distance attempts and the Greens stood no chance of another comeback.
