According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Vogel might receive an interview, but the early favorite for the job is Stotts.
Meanwhile, Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic added Jazz assistant Alex Jensen, Boston Celtics assistant Will Hardy, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee and Phoenix Suns assistant Kevin Young to the already rumored candidate list.
Jazz had another disappointing ending to the season. Despite finishing the season with a 49-33 record and making the playoffs for the 5th year in a row, they have been eliminated in the first round by the Dallas Mavericks.
Snyder did a great job as the coach in his 8 years with the Jazz, leading the team to a 372-264 record, 5 playoff appearances, and 2 Western Conference Finals. However, he decided it was time for a change.
Vogel and Stotts quickly emerged as early favorites and the biggest names to replace Snyder.
Vogel just ended his 3-year sting with the Los Angeles Lakers and helped them win the 2020 NBA title, but after missing the playoffs this season with a 33-49 record, Vogel was let go.
In his 11-year career as head coach Vogel also coached the Indiana Pacers for six seasons from 2010 to 2016 as well as the Orlando Magic for two seasons from 2016 to 2018 and holds the total record of 431-389.
Terry Stotts had a 9-year career as the Portland Trail Blazers head coach, which ended in 2021. Stotts helped the Blazers make the playoffs 8 years in a row prior to leaving Portland, peaking in 2019 when they made Western Conference Finals. During those 9 years, Stotts accumulated a 402-318 record.
Stots was also named one of the leading candidates for the Charlotte Hornets head coaching job. According to Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic, on May 17, the Hornets planned to interview Stotts.
