Pablo Laso discharged from hospital: 'I've been lucky that life has given me a warning' / News - Basketnews.com
Real Madrid's head coach Pablo Laso was discharged from the hospital after suffering a myocardial infarction on Sunday.
"I'm home now, and I feel perfectly fine," Laso gave a short update on Twitter. I have been lucky that life has given me a warning. As the Dr. told me yesterday, I am better than 5 days ago."
After performing cardiac catheterization, the coach spent the night at the hospital under observation. Even though there is no danger to his life, Laso is set for a lengthy come back to everyday life.
Marca reported that numerous tests will be done to find out the root cause of the event and the extent of the illness. Following the news, Laso's return to the club this season is highly unlikely, if not impossible.
After being discharged from the hospital, Laso will have to restrict his daily life - it is usually recommended not to drive for between one and three months and rest. Laso will most likely have to follow a strict diet, use specified drugs, and moderately increase physical exercise little by little.
Assistant coach Chus Mateo will take over Laso in the remainder of the Spanish ACB playoffs. His first game in charge this season will take place on Tuesday against Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Currently, Real Madrid lead the series 2-0.
"There is only one game in our heads, which is tomorrow, and we are going to try to do the best we can," Mateo said in a pre-game conference on Monday.
