"Best performing individual, who also had the biggest impact on his team's overall play," says ELPA's announcement on the award.
James was the leader and go-to guy for Monaco that defied the expectations to reach the playoffs. He ranked third in the EuroLeague in both scoring (16.4 PPG) and assists (5.8 APG) and was 10th in steals (1.2 SPG) this season. The former NBAer also entered the All-EuroLeague First Team.
Rokas Jokubaitis of FC Barcelona was named the 'Best Young Player' (U-22) for the second straight year.
The Lithuanian guard helped Barca reach the Final Four with 7.2 points, 2.8 assists, and a 7.6 average performance index rating. Jokubaitis also received EuroLeague's Rising Star Trophy.
Meanwhile, the former UNICS Kazan athlete John Brown had his second accolade in this year's ELPA season awards, after being recognized with the 'Best Newcomer' title yesterday.
This time he was chosen as 'Best Defender'. According to the association, the award is being given to 'the most dominant defensive player with the biggest impact on his team's defensive play.'
Brown, the current member of the Germani Brescia team, was one of the most notable forwards in the league before the Russian teams were suspended following an invasion of Ukraine.
