When asked if he considers playing 1-2 seasons in Europe, Batum responded with the following answer:
"I grew up being a big fan of Maccabi Tel Aviv. I don't know if it'll happen but if I had to choose one: Maccabi all day," the 33-year-old tweeted.
Batum is coming off a productive season in the NBA. The Los Angeles Clippers forward averaged 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steal over 59 games (54 starts) as the Clippers failed to claim the No. 8 seed for the Western Conference playoffs in the Play-In tournament.
He owns career averages of 11.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 915 duels (806 starts) with the Portland Trail Blazers (2008-15), Charlotte Hornets (2016-20), and Clippers.
Batum made a leap to the NBA after playing two professional seasons with Le Mans Sarthe (2006-08). He returned to Old Continent during the 2011 NBA lockout, when the player signed a one-year contract with SLUC Nancy in the French league, which was valid until the NBA lockout ended.
Batum helped France win a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, however, he will not help the national team in the upcoming EuroBasket 2022.
Nicolas Batum is not the only French basketball star, who delivered some nice words about a particular EuroLeague organization. Evan Fournier, who attended the final day of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague back in May, shared his fascination for the Olympiacos Piraeus club.
"If one day I had to go back to Europe and I had the choice to go where I want, I think I would go to Olympiacos. It's still a hell of a club," the New York Knicks player tweeted.
