Having previously won the Liga Endesa title in the 2020-21 season, FC Barcelona failed to reach the pinnacle of Spanish basketball again losing to Real Madrid 1-3 in the Finals.

The head coach of Barcelona, Sarunas Jasikevicius, acknowledged his players' improvement after Game 3 but had to admit that the opponents were simply better.

"I think they have been better in this series. We started badly again and then we found our game, but in 40 minutes we have not been consistent and we have had many ups and downs," Saras told in the post-game press conference.

"This team is clearly very capable of getting into trouble and getting out of it. But if you get into trouble you're not always going to get out every time," Jasikevicius explained. "We have been inconsistent, it is true, but every time we were on the ropes, the guys showed character."

Real's big man Edy Tavares dominated throughout the match, scoring 25 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and collecting a tremendous 41 PIR points. Late in the 4th quarter, it was Fabien Causeur who denied Barca any chances of coming back by hitting a clutch three-pointer to seal the series.

"Today we played with character but the details failed us," Jasikevicius told about not being able to stop Real. "Some things we cannot control. This team has shown a lot of character and has come through but we get into trouble too many times."

"I think it has been a good season. Perhaps we haven't been able to finish it off, clearly," Saras told about the season. "For a club like Barca we always fight for titles but in Belgrade, it was a tough moment for us, and didn't arrive in this playoff very fresh. We did our job to reach the final stage, and Madrid was better in the final."

Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in the EuroLeague semifinal last month. In the end, Jasikevicius had to tip the hat to the club's rivals.

"Real Madrid arrived with more freshness and had more consistency in the game. We showed character in the second game and today, but it wasn't enough also due to the level of the opponent," Saras finished his statement.
