"What a season… I was given the opportunity to 'come home'. Unfortunately, due to my injury and getting Covid twice, I wasn't able to wear this jersey as much as I wanted.

Thankfully, I made it back towards the end. 3 trophies and many challenges later, it's time to leave again. Thank you for the support through the good times and the bad. Zvezda, Delije, my brothers, and Belgrade overall have always been and will be special to me," Zirbes wrote on his Instagram account.

The 32-year-old came back to Zvezda on a 1+1 deal in September 2021. The German center averaged 3.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 3.9 PIR over 12 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, while posting the averages of 4.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 6.4 PIR in 11 Adriatic League duels this past campaign.

Zirbes played for Crvena Zvezda from 2014 to 2016. He was also a member of the Red Star in the 2018-19 season.

During his three stints in the Serbian capital, he won four ABA League titles, three Serbian League trophies, Serbian Cup, and Adriatic Supercup.

The big man had his best year in the EuroLeague in the 2015-16 season, when he wore the Crvena Zvezda jersey. Zirbes accumulated 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 14.3 PIR over 25.2 minutes that year.

During his career, the 2.08-meter center also represented such European powerhouses as FC Bayern Munich, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Brose Bamberg, and Cedevita Olimpija.
