"After every game, I had guys sending me messages, mentioning me on social media, just showing their love and support from Italy, it was great," Banchero mentioned about the support he received from Italians all over the world during the season.
Asked whether he is going to help the Italian national team, the newly-selected Magic was certain. "I'll be playing for the national team," he said. "Probably not this summer but the following."
The 19-year-old averaged 17.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists for Duke in the NCAA last season. Known for his versatility, scoring ability, creativity, and feel for the game, Banchero was the first of two Orland Magic picks in the 2022 NBA Draft. The team also selected Caleb Houstan at 32nd pick.
