An unrestricted free agent in the NBA at the moment, Goran scored 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting and dished out 4 assists for 15 PIR.
However, all eyes in the Trieste arena were on the global superstar of Luka Doncic. The Dallas Mavericks player was the primary attraction for fans throughout the match. Talking after the game, Luka rejoiced about coming back to play for his country.
"It was great. It's nice to be with the national team again. I'm happy to play for Slovenia," Doncic said. "The atmosphere was great. The fans were great. This match was a nice experience for me and the team."
"We played very poorly. Honestly, we have a lot of reserves. Well, we played well but we could be much much better," Doncic noted.
Asked about the comeback and the first game of team captain Goran Dragic this summer, Luka had nothing but positive impressions.
"Great," Doncic answered about the quality of play from Dragic. "I think he is the fastest of all. He is still in very good shape. He is our captain, our leader. He will help us a lot in these two matches. And I hope he will continue."
Doncic himself scored 12 points on 4-for-12 shooting, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists in the match.
Slovenia will welcome Croatia on June 30th in the first of two FIBA World Cup 2023 Qualifiers matchups. The team will then travel to Sweden to close out the Qualifiers window on July 3rd.
