Until his departure, Wilbekin has undeniably been the main player of Maccabi for the last several years. The American guard averaged 15.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists for 15.1 PIR in the EuroLeague for the team this season.
Wilbekin scored the most points in a single EuroLeague game this year with 37 points against AS Monaco. Scottie is also the youngest player to reach 400 three-pointers made in EuroLeague's history and the second-fastest ever to do it.
Alongside Wilbekin, Tonye Jekiri is also expected to join Fenerbahce. Even though the Turkish Basketball League (BSL) title was won, the club is set for a new future after parting ways with long-time center Jan Vesely and appointing a new head coach in Dimitris Itoudis.
According to Ismail Senol from BeIN Sports Turkey, Wilbekiin was one of Itoudis' biggest wishes coming in for the job. Since Wilbekin has a Turkish passport, the club's aim, the journalist claims, was getting the best possible local player and one of the most talented names in the slim pool of guards this offseason.
