The 2-time NBA All-star LaVine is about hit the 2022 NBA free agency horizon as an unrestricted free agent. His previous deal was a $78 million four-year deal, signed in 2018.
Bulls can offer a five-year max contract worth around $212 million. It is roughly $55 million more than other teams could offer if he decides to part ways, as he is eligible to approximately $157 million maximum deal with other potential suitors over the same five-year period.
The free-agency negotiation period opens just in two days on June 30.
LaVine had a successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in May, after the Bulls' season ended. He was bothered by knee soreness at times during the 2021-22 season and missed some games in February and January.
LaVine has spent 5 seasons with the Bulls, making the playoffs last season for the first time in his career. The Bulls' guard has averaged 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game this past season.
