Tyler Dorsey can't wait to play with Giannis: 'He's Top 5 in the world' / News - Basketnews.com
Tyler Dorsey last played for the Greek national team during the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. This year, he is going to play for the squad again.
"We're all here to represent the country with pride and try to win as many games as we can," the guard said to OPAP, the title sponsor of the Greek Basketball Federation. "That's our goal for the game on June 30th - to get the win continuing to the summer looking forward to the EuroBasket."
Dimitris Itoudis is the new head coach of the team. Having a vast amount of experience at the highest level, Dorsey is sure the new specialist will help the team reach its goals.
"He helps this team. There are a lot of young guys, a lot of mixture of different ages on this team, so to have a coach to help us gel, put us together, he's one of the best," the Olympiacos Piraeus guard said about Itoudis. "He's going to give us that energy and all the knowledge he has in his head and for the game."
Following the Qualifiers window game on June 30th, where Greece will meet Great Britain in a sold-out arena in Larissa, the national team will look forward to the EuroBasket 2022. In Group C, Greece will face Estonia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Italy, and Croatia.
The biggest superstar of Greek basketball, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is reportedly going to play for the national team during the tournament. How important is it for the squad?
Dorsey has a clear answer.
"It's very important. He's one of the Top 5 best players right now in the game in the world," he explained. "It's important to have him. Hopefully, he's coming for those games, and we can all see him there, get the practice, get the work in to prepare for those games."
