"He really enjoyed coaching that young team last year. He likes this young group," said Wojnarowski.

Even though officially Gregg Popovich's commitment to return as the head coach of the Spurs has not been confirmed, there is now a sense that he will be back for next year. It would be his 27th season as a head coach.

73-year-old Popovich increasingly became the subject of speculation about his potential retirement as trade rumors involving Dejounte Murray heated up. Murray got traded, but according to Mike Finger of San Antonio Express, Popovich is "completely on board with coaching a bunch of kids next season."

The Spurs ended up agreeing to a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. The trade will land the Spurs Danilo Gallinari, three future first-round picks, and one future first-round pick swap.

According to Mike Finger, the Spurs received the official Popovich's blessing before agreeing to trade Murray to the Hawks.

Gregg Popovich became the winningest coach in NBA history this past season.
