EuroLeague board confirms the dismissal of CEO Jordi Bertomeu / News - Basketnews.com
The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague board ratified the dismissal of the current league's CEO Jordi Bertomeu by voting in the remote meeting today, via Total Basket gr.
His successor is yet to know. Bertomeu is expected to remain in a consultant role, at least for the first few months of the transition to a new board of decision-makers.
Today's meeting of EuroLeague shareholders had disagreements, mainly coming from the Spanish and Turkish clubs, which were in favor of Bertomeu.
According to the report, the mentioned teams said that any decision taken could not be the final one. The other shareholders, however, were against it and things went their way. A majority of six clubs voted to dismiss Jordi Bertomeu.
Regarding CSKA, there was no question of canceling or not counting their vote, as the Russian club remains the shareholder of the EuroLeague, despite its exclusion from next season's competition.
Bertomeu, who also worked as the vice president of ACB, became the CEO of EuroLeague back in 2000 and has been at the helm of the tournament since then.
