Gill was a restricted free agent after Washington extended a qualifying offer. It’s most likely a veteran’s minimum deal, though terms have not been disclosed.

Gill appeared in 44 games and averaged 4.1 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 56.9% from the field and 53.8% from three (14 of 26 attempts).

He played at the University of Virginia before going overseas to play in the EuroLeague. Gill appeared in 70 EuroLeague contests with Russian side Khimki Moscow Region between 2017 and 2020, averaging 10.5 points,4.3 rebounds,1.2 assists and 0.5 blocks per game. In 2019-20, his last season with the team, he averaged 8.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.9 steals in 18.4 minutes per game.

He's considered one of the most popular players in the locker room and a favorite of the coaching staff, having stood out over the last two years in Washington for his work ethic and leadership.

Gill, 29, went undrafted out of Virginia in 2016 and spent most of his professional career overseas. He signed a two-year contract with the Wizards in November 2020. Signing him was one of the first moves the Wizards made this offseason. Following the draft, they have traded for Monte Morris and Will Barton, re-signed Bradley Beal and now have re-signed Gill.
