The 19-year-old Serbian finished the match with 3 points while shooting 1 of 6 from the field and 1 of 3 on threes, 3 rebounds, and 2 turnovers over 21 playing minutes.
"I know he wanted to play better. I think it was kind of a typical rookie's first game," said Heat assistant coach Malik Allen, who is serving as the team's summer league head coach.
"I think the game was moving a little fast at times, but he did make a couple of good plays. He put the ball on the ground and made some passes. Like I said, he's got a good feel for it. I just think it was moving really fast. I told him just to keep his head up. He was frustrated. But I thought his effort was good."
"I mean, it's unbelievable," Jovic said of signing the contract. "I still can't believe but right now, like I said, we lost by 35 points, so there's not much of a smile on my face. It still doesn't feel like it's real.
As for playing-wise, I missed some shots. Defensively I think I was all right. I had three turnovers but the whole team was kinda just playing badly and we could not get into a good rhythm. I think tomorrow will be a lot better."
Miami will take on the Sacramento Kings in the upcoming night in another edition of the California Classic Summer League.
Meanwhile, the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas will take place from July 7 to 17.
