The club is very ambitious. I look forward to helping the team achieve its goals," Wembanyama told the official website of Metropolitans 92.
"I am delighted that Victor Wembanyama has chosen to join the Metropolitans 92. We are proud to welcome him there. Victor is one of the greatest hopes of world basketball, his arrival is fully in line with the club's development project," said head coach Vincent Collet.
The 18-year-old Frenchman has been a member of LDCL ASVEL Villeurbanne since 2021. However, after the last season, he used the exit clause in his contract and left the French champs.
Wembanyama averaged 9.4 points (47.3% FG, 26.0% 3PT) and 5.1 rebounds over 18 minutes in the French LNB Pro A this past campaign. The NBA prospect was voted as the French League's Rising Star for the second consecutive season.
In EuroLeague, Wembanyama only got to play 13 regular-season matches, producing 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17 minutes.
As it was reported earlier, Wembanyama also considered joining the Paris Basketball Club and Ignite of the G League.
Last season, his new team Metropolitans 92 finished third in the EuroCup Group A. The French squad was eliminated by Valencia Basket in the quarterfinals.
