"So, Japan, China, and Europe, in terms of their spends, and it's largely unlikely that we see Jaylen back again next season," Pongrass told Matt Logue from The Telegraph. "Purely because of his value and how it has skyrocketed, not the fact that we wouldn't pay as much as we could."
The player's value reached the heights that the club just wasn't able to afford, he says.
"It's to the extent where he is making five or six times what we could even consider offering, so it wasn't even in our ballpark," Pongrass told.
Adams averaged 20.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.2 steals for Sydney Kings in the NBL. The 1.83-meter point guard shot the ball with 43% accuracy, averaging 3 made three-pointers per game.
The Kings have signed former Zalgiris Kaunasand LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne guard Derrick Walton, who spent the last year dividing his time between the Detroit Pistons and their G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, Adams's replacement.
