With the EuroLeague shareholders meeting scheduled to take place today, a significant conflict has emerged between the founder teams.

According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul are opposed to the dismissal of former EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu and the appointment of his replacement, Dejan Bodiroga.

The five clubs strongly oppose the proposed changes as they believe the changes do not comply with the most basic commercial principles for professional organizations and with the procedures and legal principles established and agreed upon between the owner clubs.

From the point of view of the five teams, the changes put the league's all business areas at risk, Mundo Deportivo reports.

The other six founding teams (Zalgiris Kaunas, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, AX Armani Exchange Milan, and CSKA Moscow) are being accused of abuse of power due to constant confusing and unfounded accusations that harm not only the league's prestigious people but also the collective organization, according to the five teams.

In addition, they consider that such a majority is protecting itself through unjustified delays in executing previous collective decisions on the incorporation of two additional teams into the 11-team club - LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and FC Bayern Munich - which in their opinion, demonstrates bad faith.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona, Real, Baskonia, Efes, and Fenerbahce reserve the right to take the necessary legal action to defend their rights and interests in addition to those of the entire organization as the actions of the other six clubs are viewed as being illegal and irresponsible.
