ALBA Berlin have announced their first signing of the 2022 offseason.

The club has officially announced about the addition of 20-year-old Italian forward Gabriele Procida. The sides have agreed to a three-year contract.

"We've had Gabriele under observation for a while. I am very happy that we were able to sign him now. He is an athletic shooting guard who will complement our roster well," ALBA Sports Director Himar Ojeda said following the signing. "Gabriele is ready to perform at the highest level and we want to help him take his game to the next level."

Procida averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds for 8.9 PIR for Fortitudo Bologna in the Italian Basketball League (LBA) last season. He was selected with the 36th overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2022 NBA Draft last month. The Italian player was then immediately traded to the Detroit Pistons.

"I would like to thank ALBA for the opportunity to play for the club. I've heard a lot of good things about the club. So it should be easy for me to get used to the new situation.
