The LEB Oro League officially announced that Marc Gasol racked the 2021-22 season MVP honors.
The 37-year-old Spanish basketball legend averaged 14.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 22.8 PIR over 25 games last campaign.
He navigated his founded team Girona Basquet to the ACB league and is expected to play in the first Spanish division next season.
The former NBAer played through the injury in the LEB Oro final helping his hometown club defeat Movistar Estudiantes 66-60 and clinch a ticket to the ACB.
Gasol was the main man on his team in the ultimate game of the competition, scoring 11 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, collecting 4 steals, and swatting 2 shots for a PIR of 26. He became the LEB Oro Final Four MVP as well.
Marc Gasol founded the club in 2014 with its first competition being in the fourth-level league. Now, Girona is at the highest stage of Spanish basketball for the first time in the team's history.
