"It feels great. This whole year and a half, I learned a lot about myself as a person. I went through a lot of trials and tribulations, but I'm here now," Wiseman said before the match.
The former 2020 no. 1 overall pick scored 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting, grabbed 2 rebounds, made 2 blocks, but collected 7 fouls in almost 20 minutes of playing time.
"It felt good," the center told following his return. "There are a lot of things for me to work on, I mean, my timing was pretty off. But this was my first game. I had fun out there."
"It was physical. That's a huge adjustment," Wiseman said. "I've been out, so I've been doing a lot of individual workouts. So for me to just get that pushing, that physical contact, I'm proud to be out there."
The Warriors talent suffered a right meniscus injury in April 2021 and spent almost a year on the sidelines. Back in March of this year, Wiseman was assigned to Warriors' G-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors. However, the center then suffered a setback in his rehab and was ruled out for the season.
"For him to be able to come out and play in a summer league game like today with good composure and playing at the rim, blocking some shots, he just looked like a really good basketball player," Warriors summer league coach Jama Mahlalela told. "That first outing is all we wanted, and we told him to come out, have fun, enjoy the game and let it come to him."
