After Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade's president Nebojsa Covic declared last week that the club had the idea of Pablo Laso being the head coach of the team in the upcoming season, the coach himself has decided to respond.

"We had the idea that Pablo Laso would take over the bench when we heard about the outcome with Real Madrid," the president told in the club's assembly several days ago. "When we established contact, we received an answer that his health situation does not allow him to come to Belgrade."

Following the news, a Spanish basketball website, Gigantes del Basket, has decided to contact the coach himself. According to Gigantes, both Laso and his representatives categorically denied having received any kind of proposal or a contract offer.

The website reports that according to Laso's team, Zvezda's president did not approach the coach or his team at any time.

Contrary to the reason stated by Covic, Laso's camp denies rejecting the offer due to health reasons as no offer was ever presented, Gigantes reports.

The club went on to hire Vladimir Jovanovic as its new head coach. Former player Marko Simonovic will be joining the coaching staff after retiring from professional basketball.
