Jazz general manager Justin Zanik talked about the possibility to trade their star player during a news conference on Saturday when asked if Mitchell was considered untouchable in trade discussions.
"Change is inevitable in the NBA," Zanik said.
"I'm not trying to be cryptic or anything else, but Donovan is on our roster, and he's a very, very important part of what we're trying to do," added Zanik.
While Zanik said there is no intent to trade Mitchell, he revealed he's open to the possibility.
"Things evolve in the NBA, so I couldn't sit here and say anybody is [untouchable]. We're trying to build a championship team, but there's no intent [to trade Mitchell] at all," said Zanik.
The 25-year-old Mitchell last season averaged 25.9 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game.
1.85-meter tall guard was drafted 13h overall in the 2017 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets but was traded to the Jazz on the draft night.
Mitchell played for the Jazz in his entire five-year NBA career. He has been an All-Star each of the past three seasons.
