"We are beyond thrilled to add Jalen Brunson to our organization," said the Knicks president.
"He's a competitor, a leader, a playmaker, and most importantly a winner," Rose continued.
"His addition is a perfect complement to the team that we are building and the culture we are establishing," added Rose.
The 1.91-meters tall Brunson has spent all of his four years in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, who drafted him with the 33rd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Last season Brunson had a break-out year and averaged 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
Brunson and the Mavericks last season made it to the Western Conference Finals by beating the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns in the first two rounds of playoffs, eventually losing to the Golden State Warriors in five games.
The guard averaged 21.6 points per game in the playoffs. The Mavericks had a 2-1 lead over the Jazz in the first round even without Luka Doncic in the first three games, mostly thanks to Brunson's performance.
Last season the Knicks missed the playoffs and the play-in tournament, which was disappointing considering that a season prior they managed to get the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference.
