Both sides have discussed a deal framework in the past 24 hours.
The Knicks have eight future first-round picks, four of them available to be traded, so they have more to offer than most teams, including the Miami Heat who are highly interested in Mitchell as well. However, the Heat only has two first-rounders able to be traded and a potential centerpiece in Tyler Herro.
Jazz general manager Justin Zanik talked about the possibility to trade their star player during a news conference on Saturday when asked if Mitchell was considered untouchable in trade discussions.
The 25-year-old Mitchell last season averaged 25.9 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game.
1.85-meter tall guard was drafted 13h overall in the 2017 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets but was traded to the Jazz on the draft night.
Mitchell played for the Jazz in his entire five-year NBA career. He has been an All-Star each of the past three seasons.
