Partizan Belgrade player Danilo Andjusic, in a recent interview with sportklub.rs, did not hide that he was surprised by the decision of the Serbian national team coach Svetislav Pesic to not include him in the list of candidates for the upcoming qualification matches for the World Cup and the EuroBasket 2022.

On Tuesday, Pesic announced the names of 22 players. 31-year-old Andjusic, who had a very good season with AS Monaco, was not on the list.

"I was surprised when I saw the list," said Andjusic. "It wasn't clear to me because I had the season I had."

"I played in a team that participated in the EuroLeague playoffs, but also because of how I played in the last two or three years. Not only for the club, but also for the national team," Andjusic added.

The experienced guard, who averaged 7.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists last season in the EuroLeague, said that he only learned from the media that he's not on the list.

"The agreement was to hear from the coach after the previous qualifying window. However, no one invited me, I learned everything from the media," Andjusic revealed.

"Let's face it, the national team was always a great honor for me and I was always there," Andjusic continued.

Despite not being invited, Andjusic said he will still root for the team to win gold at the upcoming EuroBasket.

"I think I deserve a spot on the list. It is my opinion," said Andjusic. "I don't want to attack anyone and drag myself through the media."

"I wish the Serbian national team only the best. It doesn't matter at all if I'm part of the team or not, the national team is sacred.

I want the boys to return home with the gold, and I will be a big fan, just like I have been until now," concluded Andjusic.
