Lithuanian basketball federation announced a 16-man preliminary roster for EuroBasket 2022.

As expected, the two biggest stars of the team, Jonas Valanciunas and Domantas Sabonis, will help their country in the upcoming tournament.

"The list doesn't look like I imagined it at the beginning," head coach Kazys Maksvytis said in a statement. "Some players can't play due to injuries, others declined the invitation, but I think the team is good."

A few of the biggest Lithuania losses are Edgaras Ulanovas, Arturas Gudaitis, and Eimantas Bendzius, who won't play this summer.

Donatas Motiejunas is also not included in the list due to personal reasons. However, Motiejunas promised that in case of an injury in the national team, he would be ready to help and join the training camp.

Lithuania will begin its preparation for EuroBasket on July 25, except for Sabonis and Valanciunas, who will join the team on August 6 due to NBA rules.

Lithuania will play 7 friendly games against Estonia (August 4 and 7), Finland (August 10 and 11), Spain (August 16 and 18), and the Netherlands (August 19).

Lithuania will also face Hungary (August 24) and Montenegro (August 27) in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers Second Round.
