The Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will host the 2022 ESPYs (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award), becoming the first NBA player to host the event since LeBron James in 2007.

The Warriors are nominated for Best Team in the upcoming ESPY's awards. Curry got asked in the interview by Zion Olojde of Complex about hypothetical winners of the 2017 Warriors vs the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers among other things.

"Those conversations are trivial," started Curry.

"But at the end of the day, if you could match up in some alternate universe, us versus the 2001 Lakers, obviously we feel like we can win," said the Golden State's star.

"I don't know who would guard Shaq [Shaquilie O'Neal] but I don't know who would guard me and Klay [Thompson] either. We rockin' with that. And three is better than two," added Curry.

In 2022 NBA Finals Curry managed to shut up some critics about his defense by making some key defensive plays in the series, when asked about that 4-time NBA champion said he had improved as a defender over the years.

"The way I play defense is just doing my job and trying not to be considered the weakest link out there," said 2022 NBA Finals MVP.

"That's all effort and IQ and understanding the game," said Curry.

"You can't compare me to the all-defensive team guys. I'm never going to be on that level but I try to be as well-rounded as possible," the Warriors' guard explained.

"That end of the floor I made tremendous strides and the ability to do that has helped us win," added Curry.

The 2-time NBA MVP had also comments about people comparing players and making the top lists.

"There's a shortlist of guys in the league that every team would want and there's a shortlist of guys that impact winning and have done it consistently," started Curry on the topic.

"When you're in that category whether it's right now or all-time and you have the respect of your peers, that's the conversations we want to be having," Curry explained.

"Everybody's list is different, that's the beauty in it. We got 10 people and they’ll have 10 different top lists," said the 8-time NBA All-star.

"You'll crack one of them and let those conversations be what they are," Curry concluded on the topic.
