After getting arrested several weeks ago, the Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges is now set to face legal charges in court.

After being accused of assaulting his girlfriend in front of their two children, Bridges will be called up to court today to answer questions about the incident.

Los Angeles County district attorney filed one felony count of injuring a child's parent and two felony counts of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death. It "includes an allegation of causing great bodily injury on the domestic violence victim", the DA report states.

Bridges was arrested on June 29th and was later released on a $130,000 bond.

Following the incident, Mychelle Johnson, Bridges' wife and the mother of their two children, shed light on the NBA player's alleged actions, posting a series of photos to Instagram showing the bruising she claims Bridges caused, as well as what appears to be a hospital report with some harrowing photos.

"I hate that it has come to this but I can't be silent anymore," she wrote in an Instagram post several days after the incident without mentioning Bridges directly.

Johnson claimed her injuries to include a torn eardrum and a fractured nose.

"I've allowed someone to destroy my home, abuse me in every way possible and traumatize our kids for life," she said. "I have nothing to prove to the world, but I won't allow anyone who could do something so horrible to have no remorse and paint a picture of something I'm not."

Before the player got arrested, the Hornets had extended a qualifying offer to him to extend the contract. Although the team was expected to rescind the offer, the club didn't pull the qualifying offer.

The player remains a restricted free agent. If he signs the one-year tender, he is set to earn $7.9 million.

Bridges has spent all of his four years in the NBA with the Hornets. He was selected number 12 overall in the 2018 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, who then traded his rights to Charlotte.

The 24-year-old just had the best season of his career in 2021-22. Bridges averaged 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists last season for the Hornets.
