According to the official statement, Achille Polonara and Fenerbahce have parted ways after a year.

"We would like to thank our athlete Achille Polonara for his contributions to Fenerbahce Family and wish him success in his new career," the club writes.

Polonara left Italy in 2019 to join Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, where he played for two seasons and won the ACB title in 2020. He averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds with Fenerbahce in the EuroLeague last season.

Together with the team, Polonara won the Turkish League this year after defeating the two-time reigning EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

According to multiple reports, Polonara is set to join Efes for the next season. A complicated relationship with Tornike Shengelia is cited as one of the main reasons for the forward not joining Virtus Segafredo Bologna, although the club was interested.
