"For sure, being part of a great team with an incredible history, perhaps the biggest in Europe, is a huge honor," Gudaitis said following the announcement. "I feel great about it and I honestly tell you that one of the big goals of my life was to one day wear the Panathinaikos jersey with these fans by my side."
The 29-year-old began the 2021-22 season with Zenit St Petersburg and averaged 6.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 8.6 PIR in 17 EuroLeague games.
However, after Russia began the war on Ukraine and EuroLeague suspended Russian teams, Gudaitis left Zenit and finished the season in Italy with Napoli.
He averaged 7.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Italian league.
In 2018-19, Gudaitis had a career season at AX Armani Exchange Milan, averaging 12.5 points (63.9% on 2-pointers and 80.5% on free throws) and 7.1 rebounds. The same year, however, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, resulting in him being sidelined for seven and a half months.
