Jaka Blazic, a veteran of the Slovenian national team talked about the EuroBasket 2022, team leader Luka Doncic, Goran Dragic's comeback to the NT, and the challenges the team will have to face in the upcoming competition.

In an interview with SportKlub, Blazic, who recently left Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana and signed a contract with Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, revealed that Slovenian players pressured Goran Dragic to come back to the national team.

"You won't hear me announce the medal. Step by step. Match by match. That's my rule," Blazic answered when asked about EuroBasket 2022 expectations.

"The very beginning, that is against Lithuania, will be hellish," continued the guard.

"A winning opening would give us wings in a very demanding Cologne group, which may even be the toughest," added Blazic.

"I hope and believe that Goran Dragic will be with us again. The pressure on him is quite strong," said Blazic.

"It would probably be hard to find anyone in the national team who didn't say: 'Gogi [Goran Dragic], come with us to the EuroBasket'," Blazic revealed.

"But it's not just about us. As if the whole of Slovenia was rooting for him to decide on another big competition," the Slovenian veteran explained.

When asked about who is going to be the leader of the Slovenian national team, Blazic said that Dragic was happy to leave the leader's role to Doncic.

"Now the leader is Luka. Without a doubt. We all expected that. Gogi was happy to leave it to him," said Blazic.

"But, I have to admit, he [Goran Dragic] did surprise me a bit with his game in the match against Croatia. In certain moves, he was the old Gogi again," recalled Blazic.

Blazic has also talked about the Slovenian national team's chemistry, where the humbleness of Luka Doncic despite being one of the best players on the planet helps.

"He [Doncic] is a world star. But it's relaxed atmosphere between us. He enjoys it. You'd be surprised how humble he is," Blazic explained.

"I am sure that it will be like this in the future as well," added the Slovenian guard.

"But on the court... Well, you can see for yourself," Blazic concluded.
