Girona deservedly earned its right to play in the ACB and this very week the entity's General Assembly accepted Girona's participation. Everything is in order. Girona once again has a team in the highest division of Spanish basketball.

However, there is one detail that still needs to be solved - Marc Gasol still cannot play in the League.

The first step to achieve this was taken a few weeks ago when FC Barcelona renounced the rights it held over Gasol. So the first hurdle was overcome, but another still remains.

The ACB rules prohibit the president of a club from being registered as a player and that is exactly the circumstance in which the Catalan center is in.

Specifically, it is article 25 of the Competition Regulations, which prohibits a player or coach to have a managerial position.

Although the rule is clear in this regard, there should be no problem for Marc Gasol to play in the ACB. This is a point that all affected parties have made clear since it is in the interest of both the club and the league that one of the best players in the history of Spanish basketball would show up on the court with Girona next season.
