FC Bayern Munich officially announced the arrival of American center Freddie Gillespie. Both sides agreed on a two-year contract.

"I'm sure that Europe and especially Munich is the right place to develop my game and improve. I will bring my mentality of wanting to get the best out of every situation; also rebounding, defense, setting screens, fight for offensive rebounds, and my physicality,"​​ said Gillespie, who is currently in Houston and training twice a day.

The 25-year-old split time between the Orlando Magic and the Grizzlies' G-League affiliate Memphis Hustle last season.

In nine NBA games, he posted 2.3 points and 4.0 rebounds. Gillespie appeared in 22 G-League matches and averaged 9.1 points, 6.0 boards, and 1.5 blocks.

The 2.06-meter center went undrafted in 2020. He started his professional path with the same Memphis Hustle shifting to the Toronto Raptors in mid-season in 2021.

He holds NBA career averages of 4.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.5 assists throughout 29 games.
