The Slovenian national team gathered at a camp on Monday to prepare for the EuroBasket 2022, which will begin on September 1.

Everyone wants the golden captain Goran Dragic to defend the championship title from 2017, but they are still waiting for his answer if he's joining the team, while Luka Doncic will join the team in the second week of August.

A tough group awaits Slovenia in Cologne, where the national teams of France, Lithuania, hosts Germany, Hungary, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will also perform, so every bit of help is needed.

For the most part, it is already clear how strong Slovenia's line-up will be. A lot will revolve around Luka Doncic, who will join the preparations of the national team around August 10.

The biggest question is about Goran Dragic, who will take care of personal matters in Miami from August 1 and has yet to decide if he's going to join Slovenia for EuroBasket 2022.

His confirmation or rejection will have to wait until the first days of August, but it is clear that coach Aleksander Sekulic would very much like to have a basketball player of his caliber in his ranks.

In an interview with siol.net, Sekulic emphasized the importance of Goran Dragic to the team.

"We saw in the last two games how important he [Goran Dragic] is," said the head coach.

"We will give everything to convince him to play. He can't start training before August 3. I hope he can join then," Sekulic explained.
