A path to the NBA for Simone Fontecchio has been officially opened up.

Cazzo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz have officially announced the departure of their player.

"Thank you to all the fans who have shown me incredible love from day one. Thanks to the club, the staff, and my teammates for always supporting me and helping me to be a better player," Fontecchio said following the announcement.

The Italian forward is about to sign a two-year contract with the Utah Jazz, according to Eurodevotion.According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Jazz have agreed on a two-year, $6.25M deal with the Italian forward.

The 26-year-old will compete in the NBA for the first time in his career.

In the previous two seasons, Fontecchio played in the EuroLeague with ALBA Berlin and Baskonia.

Last season with Baskonia, the player averaged 11 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in the EuroLeague.
