Sergio Scariolo announced a 22-man preliminary roster for EuroBasket 2022.

Five World Champions in 2019 (Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Llull, Willy Hernangomez, Juancho Hernangomez, and Quino Colom) and three debutants (Lorenzo Brown, Juan Nunez, and Hector Alderete) made the extended Spanish list.

Alberto Abalde and Usman Garuba are also among the selected players, but their incorporation into the squad will depend on the evolution of their respective injuries, the Spanish Basketball Federation writes.

"We know that we are in a difficult moment. Generational change is a great challenge. We are very clear that the values ​​of the national team do not vary, but the level of talent does," Scariolo said.

Spain will start their preparation cycle on August 1. Ahead of EuroBasket 2022, the team will play a total of six games: four friendly matches and two contests for the FIBA 2023 World Cup European Qualifiers.

The latter games involve Iceland on August 24 and the Netherlands on August 27.

Spain will play their EuroBasket group stage in Tbilisi (Georgia) against Bulgaria, Georgia, Belgium, Montenegro, and Turkey.
