According to Nola.com's Christian Clark, the 22-year-old has to keep his total weight and body fat percentage at a certain threshold. That could reduce Zion's payday if he does not meet a set weight target.
"According to league sources, Williamson's contract stipulates that he will have weigh-ins periodically throughout the entirety of his new deal," writes Christian Clark. "The sum of his weight and body fat percentage must be below 295. If it is not, the amount of guaranteed money in Williamson's contract can be reduced.
Zion Williamson did not play a single game this past campaign due to a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Williamson also missed the first three months of the 2019-20 season, as he suffered from a knee injury.
The No. 1 pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, Williamson has played just 85 games for the Pelicans.
For his career, he has averages of 25.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 31.7 minutes per match.
