The most notable names on the roster - Boston Celtics big man Al Horford and Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns.
If he plays for the national team, it will be a long-awaited return for Towns as he last played for the squad in 2013 in the FIBA Americas tournament while he was only 17 years old.
Horford's absence from the national team is even longer. The NBA veteran last played for the Dominican Republic in the 2012 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela where the team lost the ultimate game for the qualification to the London Olympic Games and placed 4th.
Dominican Republic are placed in Group E in the Americas Qualifiers together with Canada, Venezuela, Argentina, Panama, and the Bahamas. The team holds a win-loss record of 4-2 and is currently 4th in the group.
