When the 20-year-old Edwards was asked about his individual expectations, he answered with clearly set goals.
"Me personally, I want to be an All-Star Starter. I want my averages to go up. I want to win a lot of games and go deep into the playoffs," said Edwards.
Last season, the Timberwolves were the 7th seed in the Western Conference and were eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies, but Edwards believe it was their series to lose.
"Man, I feel like we handed it to them [the Grizzlies], man. It was like taking candy from a baby, and they took the candy," said the 1.93-meters tall guard.
"We had every game won, man and I don't know what happened. I don’t know what happened," added Edwards.
When Edwards was asked if they are a 'championship or bust' team, he agreed with that due to the new addition at the frontline of the French center Rudy Gobert:
"For sure. Adding Rudy [Gobert] puts that pressure on us. I agree with that," said Edwards.
The young guard believes he can become one of the best players in the NBA after this next season already.
"I need another year. After this year, I think I'll be in the [best player] conversation," said the 20-year-old.
The number one overall pick from the 2020 NBA draft last season with the Timberwolves averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.
