The two-meter-tall Australian point guard Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder will face off against his former team of the NBL in the Adelaide 36ers in a restarted NBA against NBL clash.

News Corp has confirmed the 36ers will play two pre-season games against NBA teams. Besides the Thunder, the Australian team will also play against the Phoenix Suns.

The 36ers are the only confirmed NBL team that will make it to the US this upcoming NBA pre-season in a return of the NBL against NBA format, which was paused for two seasons due to Covid.

Melbourne United decided against making the trip even though they also had a possibility to play two games against NBA teams, while Perth were also invited to take part, but refused due to scheduling issues.

The 36ers were luckier with their schedule to make the trip to the US. The NBL season tips off on October 1, but the 36ers don't play their first game until round 3 on October 13.
