Nick Weiler-Babb is now a German citizen and therefore eligible to play for the German national team, as early as tomorrow, the German Basketball Federation has announced on Friday.

Saturday the FC Bayern Munich guard will travel to the German national team's training camp in Cologne to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers and the EuroBasket 2022.

The native Texan has lived in Germany for more than three years and also sees his future here: the 26-year-old recently extended his contract with FC Bayern Basketball for two more years.

The parents of Weiler-Babb's mother are German citizens, so it is not surprising that the now German guard who has also spent more than the last three years in Germany has chosen to represent Germany.

"Of course, this is a very important, a very personal and well-considered decision that I made some time ago," said Weiler-Babb after receiving the naturalization certificate in Munich.

"I am very grateful and happy about the initiative of the German basketball association. I have a special relationship with Germany and German basketball and I feel very comfortable here with my wife," added the guard.

"After the great experience with Bayern in the EuroLeague, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to prove myself at the high level of the national teams," said Weiler-Babb.

Last season with the FC Bayern, the guard averaged 6.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game in the EuroLeague competition.
