Slovenia defeats Montenegro behind strong fourth quarter effort / News - Basketnews.com

TheSlovenian national teamovercame Montenegro's challenge in a preparation game ahead of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers and the 2022 EuroBasket with a final score of 70-52(23-6, 18-24, 6-14, 23-8).

Slovenia started the decisive fourth quarter with an 11 to 1 run to gain a comfortable 12-point advantage (57-45) after Ziga Samar's 3-pointer with 6:46 left in the game.

After that, despite Jonah Radebaugh's efforts, Montenegro did not manage to make another comeback rest of the game.

In the third quarter, Montenegro kept getting closer slowly as Slovenia struggled to score, and after Nemanja Radovic's five consecutive points, Montenegro took the lead for the first time in the game (43-44) with 1:32 left in the quarter.

After a horrible first quarter, Montenegro started clawing their way back in the game from the very beginning of the second quarter, and after Igor Drobnjak's free throws with 6:44 still to go in the quarter, cut the deficit back to single digits (26-17).

Slovenia started the game strongly and already had a 17-point lead (23-6) with 16 seconds left in the first quarter, after Klemen Prepelic's 3-pointer.

Luka Doncic,Goran Dragic, andMike Tobeydid not play yet for Slovenia.

For balanced Slovenia, Gregor Hrovat had 9 points (3/3 2PT, 0/2 3PT, 3/3 FT) and 4 rebounds.

Montenegro was led by Nemanja Radovic, who ended up with 16 points (4/8 2PT, 2/6 3PT, 2/3 FT), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.

Slovenia:Gregor Hrovat 9 (4 REB), Jurij Macura 9, Gregor Glas 8, Ziga Dimec 7 (4 REB);

Montenegro:Nemanja Radovic 16, Jonah Radebaugh 14, Igor Drobnjak 7 (4 REB).
