There is no pressure, however, we go game by game and that's how we proceed," the Greek floor general told Christos Tsaltas.
When asked if the goal is the medal, Calathes' answer was clear: "Every time you go to a EuroBasket, the goal is the medal. We hope to get it and that's our main goal."
This summer, the Greek national team managed to gather all their brightest EuroLeague stars and receive help from one of the best players in the world, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
As stated by Calathes, the presence of the Greek Freak is a huge boost for the NT.
"Giannis is the most dominant player in the world. It's easy for us to play with him. He creates and makes things easier for players like me, Sloukas, and Dorsey. He brings us freedom on the offensive end and delivers energy to defense," the point guard stressed.
Last but not least, the 33-year-old Calathes touched on his future in the national team.
"I want to finish [my national team career] at the Olympics. This is my big goal. I want to play in Paris and then I'll be fine.
So, I would say that I put a limit of 2 years, for the Olympic Games. I want to be there," Calathes said.
