Milic, who was the NBA's first Slovenian player, has obvious ties to Mavs' Slovenian wunderkind Luka Doncic. They are just two of 13 players from Slovenia to play in the NBA.
The 45-year-old also played with team head coach Jason Kidd when he was on the Phoenix Suns between 1997 and 1999. He appeared in 44 games during his two-season stint and averaged 2.5 points.
Milic was drafted in the second round in 1997 by the Philadelphia 76ers before being traded to the Suns five months later.
He also competed at the highest level of European basketball before retiring in 2015.
Milic headed back to Europe after his tenure in the NBA. His represented teams in Old Continent include Real Madrid, Fenerbahce, Fortitudo Bologna, Virtus Bologna, and Union Olimpija.
