Luka Doncic, Goran Dragic push Slovenia over resilient Turkey in overtime thriller / News - Basketnews.com

Luka Doncic is back with theSlovenian national team. Luka Magic went to work in his first friendly game and thanks mostly to his and Goran Dragic's performance Slovenia won over resilient Turkey in overtime in Istanbul with the final score of 104-103 (21-26, 25-14, 27-22, 17-28, 14-13).

Goran Dragic hit a clutch game-winning 3-pointer with 21 seconds left in the overtime to get Slovenia back on top by one point (104-103). Then, Furkan Korkmaz turned the ball over on the side of the floor with 3 seconds left in the overtime.

Furkan Korkmaz hit a game-tying bucket (90-90) with 3 seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

Doncic left the court with 6:09 left in the fourth quarter and didn't play the rest of the game.

Turkey mounted a comeback in the last minute of the fourth quarter behind Sengun and Furkan Korkmaz's efforts. With 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Korkmaz hit a couple of free throws to get Turkey within a 1-point deficit (89-88). Then Zoran Dragic converted on one free throw to give Slovenia a 2-point advantage (90-88).

Goran Dragic converted on a driving layup with 1:02 left in the game to give Slovenia a 10-point advantage (86-76) and essentially leave Turkey with very minimal chances to win the game.

Alperen Sengun tried his best to give a chance for Turkey in the last minutes and got his team within a 6-point deficit (82-76) after hitting two free throws with 2:21 left in the game.

Slovenia struggled offensively in the first half of the fourth quarter and had only two points until Vlatko Cancar ended the drought by adding two more (77-69) with 5:25 left in the quarter.

Turkey was not gonna give up that easy despite a double-digit deficit after three quarters. With 6:52 left in the final quarter, Cedi Osman converted on a 3-point play to get Turkey within a 7-point deficit (75-68).

Turkey couldn't inch closer in the third quarter, which Doncic closed with a layup to give Slovenia an 11-point advantage (73-62).

Slovenia gained an 8-point advantage (44-36) towards the end of the first half, after Zoran Dragic's layup with 2:11 left in the second quarter.

Slovenia managed to tie the game (29-29) after just over two minutes in the second quarter after Klemen Prepelıc's 3-pointer.

In a high-scoring first quarter, Turkey took a 5-point lead (21-26), behind Alperen Sengun who finished the quarter strongly.

Luka Doncic led Slovenia with a double-double of 23 points (6/9 2PT, 2/7 3PT, 5/8 FT), 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

For Turkey, Furkan Korkmaz had 33 points (3/6 2PT, 5/11 3PT, 12/14 FT), 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
