Bucks' coach Mike Budenholzer praises Itoudis and enjoys European experience / News - Basketnews.com
Milwaukee head coach Mike Budenholzer is closely following the Greek national team and their preparation for EuroBasket 2022 with the Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo on the roster.
First, the bench boss, who navigated Milwaukee to the NBA championship in 2021, visited Madrid to spectate the Spain-Greece friendly game and now he is attending the Acropolis Tournament in Athens.
Giannis is not the only Bucks player Budenholzer came to watch for, as Thanasis Antetokounmpo (Greece) and Sandro Mamukelashvili (Georgia) also participate in the preparation competition.
"It's nice to be here and watch European basketball. Yes, there are differences between the NBA and Europe, but there are also many similarities. The players are doing a very good job and I'm glad I came to watch the games," the 53-year-old American specialist said, via Sport 24.gr.
No strange, coach Budenholzer had some nice words to say about the Bucks and the Greek national team's front-runner Giannis.
"He is a special person and one of the best I have ever met. He is humble, works hard, and does everything for his team. We are lucky to have him in Milwaukee."
Budenholzer also praised his European colleague, Dimitris Itoudis, for doing a great job with the Greek NT.
"Great coaching by coach Itoudis. I have been watching the practices and I can say that the national team will play hard. Giannis brings something special to the team and you can see that the players are excited about this opportunity," Budenholzer noted.
Coach Budenholzer finished a brief interview on national TV with a scoop on the Bucks' title run in 2023.
"You always dream of a championship. But you have to focus on the work you do every day. You dream about it but you have to wake up and work.
We have a good team. Giannis is very important but we have many good players who can do a very good job. We have a good team."
